I knew that melatonin reduces stress and cortisol, but unfortunately it cannot be administered to patients with diabetes or prediabetes since it increases the risk of insulin resistance.
Instead, by genetically facilitating serotonin synthesis ( Patrik RP, Ames BN 2014), vitamin D also boosts, with no contraindications, melatonin, which in turn derives from serotonin itself. Fantastic!
Let me give you some advice, as a doctor and a friend. When coping with stress, consider your levels of 25(OH)D or vitamin D. If you want to be very scrupulous, then do also the saliva testing of cortisol and melatonin, as critical parameters to assess stress and burnout.
